Baby Hands

Australian Baby Hands LogoKnight Street Children’s Centre uses “Australian Baby Sign Language” as part of our developmental program.

The program we have involves the use of AUSLAN, which is Australian Sign Language. Use of standardised Australian Sign Language creates consistency for communication all around Australia.

So that parents can also be involved in this wonderful communication with their child, we have sign charts that we will reproduce and supply, so that some of the basic signs can be continued in the home.

The many scientific studies into Baby Sign Language have illustrated numerous benefits for your baby, including:

In a study, children aged 3 years who used Baby Sign Language had a vocabulary comparable to 4 year olds. It has also been confirmed that children exposed to Baby Sign Language, had an advantage of 12 I.Q. points over children who did not use it.

If you have any questions about this program, please visit the Australian Baby Hands website and visit their FAQ page for more information.
