Knight Street Children’s Centre is a member of The Cancer Council Victoria’s, SunSmart Early Childhood Program.
Sun exposure during childhood and adolescence is a risk factor for developing skin cancer later in life. For this reason, SunSmart recommends that all early childhood services have a sun protection policy.
Our Sun Smart Policy has been developed to ensure that all children attending the centre are protected from skin damage caused by the harmful UV rays of the sun. Our Sun Smart Policy meets the criteria of The Cancer Council Victoria's SunSmart Program. The purpose is to reduce children's exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, and thus reduce sunburn and the risk of skin cancer.
